In my last article, I have explained all about “Adding Google tracking script in website or blog“. As soon as you put the Google Tracking script on the pages of your website or blog, Google Analytic script start tracking every action of visitors coming on your website or blog. Remember, Google Analytic script will only track those pages on which you have placed the script. So, try adding the script on all pages which you want to monitor. you can avoid pages such as admin area or any other pages where you think user should not allowed to visit.

Once you are sure that you have added the script, go and login into and you can see the data there. By default, you will see the tracking data for last one month. Obviously, the data recording would have started just after you have added the script on your website or blog, so, for dates before that there will not be any data displaying.  Let me give you brief introduction of this portal. You will see these menu options on the left-hand side of Google analytics portal.

(1) Dashboard  You can see there a default dashboard in this option with name “My Dashboard”. Here you can see various widgets displaying the overview, graphs and statistics which you will see in rest of links on left menu. You can see the graphs for number of visitors you have on your website. By default, it shows data for one month however, you can change the date range to see day selection data. You can also see a world map where you can see total number of visitors coming from different countries. You can see more widgets like Bounce Rate, Average session data, Goal Completion, revenue etc. Good thing is that you can add or remove the widgets per your need and interest. Also, you can change the placement of any widget by dragging it on the page. You can create custom Dashboards too.

(2) Shortcuts – You can save any report in the Google Analytic as shortcut. It applies the filters and other parameters which you have set. Shortcuts are the quick way to access these reports without further setting the filters and parameters.

(3) Intelligence Events – In intelligence events you can set your custom alerts for which you want to get notification. For example, you want to notify your sales team on any day when you get less than 50 conversions, less than 1000 users or more than 20 downloads in a day, week or month. There is a provision where you can add email addresses where you want to get notified for any of criteria you set. Email will be sent out to that email id automatically whenever event is matched. For USA cells the SMS notification can also be sent.

(4) Real Time – Real time tells about the users visiting now on your website or blog. You can check on which page the users are, from which country or location user is belonging to and what is source which get that visitor on your website. You can monitor the user behavior on your website in real time.

(5) Audience – Here you can track the audience like how many visitors on your website are new, how many are repeating visitors. What are the interests of your audience, what are the age group of your visitors who are visiting, how many male and female visitors? What are the locations to which your visitors are belonging to, what is the language of the visitor etc. You can also track the user flog i.e. how the visitors navigating in your website or blog.

(6) Acquisition – Acquisition tells you about the source of traffic i.e. Direct traffic, referral traffic, organic traffic or social media traffic.
Direct traffic are the visitors which directly coming on your website or blog after typing your domain name in browser.
Referral traffic are the visitors which are coming from the links pointing to your website or blog on any other website or blog.
Organic traffic are the visitors which are searching your website or blog on search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.
Social media traffic are the visitors which are coming from social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter etc.
We can also track the AdWords Campaigning from Google analytic.

(7) Behaviour – This tab tells you about the behaviour flow of the visitors. Also, here you can monitor your website speed, website content, searches etc. You can also set the experiments for you can set to get the email notifications.

(8) Conversions – In conversion tab you can set the goals like if your visitor visits some specific page, or some specific of time is being spent on the website or blog etc.

Google Analytic is a powerful tool for tracking your visitors. You can plan your business strategies carefully after reading the behaviours of your visitors. This is the tool which helps you to know that where you are doing good and bad on your website or blog. This tool is completely free.
